It looks like soft star is developing a running style moccasin. Interesting. I wonder how durable they will be. These are the running shoes of choice for Legolas and other LOTR elves. I'm thinking of getting some soft stars for kicking around in.

Look promising, if they're cheap and they change the color.

The LOTR reference -- classic.
Yeah SS actually asked me to test out their running moc prototype. I declined but asked Tuck (of tuck's shoes) to stand in for me as he runs a great deal more than I do. He is testing them out now and at some point we'll probably see a post about them on birthdayshoes.
The "Legolas" -- perfect.

I wonder if they are available in stores? There is a place by me that sells moccasins. I might have to check it out. I could really use a cheaper minimalist shoe option.

They're still testing them as of MArch 15, 2010. So I don't think they're available yet and when they do become available, it would be through the softstar site or stores that carry their products.

I guess I should have been more clear about a local dealer that sells moccasins. I wasn't expecting them to carry Softstar products per se, but a moccasin does sound like a good alternative to wearing V5Fs. I guess I could just muster up the courage and go barefoot and save a lot more money not having to buy footwear.

I found a review from a tester of the upcoming softstar running mocs. I'm pretty excited and can't wait for them to debut sometime this spring/summer. I might even give the bikilas a pass and go with the softstar run-a-moc, an all-American (materials and labor) company.

So here's the newest info on the softstar running mocs! Just a brief summary, Perforated leather or suede upper. 2 sole choices of 2mm for street or 5mm for trail running. Vibram soles. Release date April 28th!!! Hooray, I'm excited. I wonder what the price will be. All all american leather and american made. I'm passing on bikilas and getting softstars.

I don't know. As different looking VFFs are, I think those mocs would make me feel like a dork. I think I'll go with the Bikilas and pass on the whole elf LOTR look.
