Todays KB Play time
Drills 1, 2, 3 and 4 from Jeff Martone H2H circuits. 3 x 40 sec elements back to back make 1 drill. keeps the mind active concentrating on an air bourne kb while counting reps and the odd glance at the clock. Much simpler just to go for time but I do like to have an idea of the workload.
Only using a 12kg today. Total reps 281. Workload 3372kg. 10 - 12mins
Went light today as done some hand 2 hand swings with the 24 yesterday.

What are the good brands in kettlebells and what weight do I (a 180 pound white male with some weight to lose and some muscle to build) most likely need?

Not sure re brands your side of the pond. Dragondoor will be very good but also very expensive. You are 40 heavier than me my first was a 16kg (35) perhaps a 20kg. Take a 20kg dumbell. If you can do 10 shoulder presses with good form then the 20kg should be ok. If not go for the 16kg.

I'm trying to do my research and a lot of people are going back and forth over Dragon Door versus Ader. *sigh* Back to the interwebs.

The joys of KBs
You can just do it. Next to no space required. While waiting for phone call to pick partner up just picked the 24kg up and banged out a 100. 20 around body passes, 10 sidebends, 10 goodmornings, 10 sumo deads, 10 push presses, 10 swings, 10 upright row, 10 chest press, 10 rows. just a few mins to do a workload of 2400kg. Best bit is does not mentally feel like a workout. Just passing the time. Still no call so might do some more yet.

I'm excited to get into it. I've been doing some simple lifts with the 20 pound dumbbell I keep in my safe (I can't screw it to the floor so I figured the extra weight would be a good deterrent), but this looks like a much better way to work out.

I wish I could find someplace other than Sports Authority to try out KBs in person. Their selection is terrible and their sales staff doesn't seem to have any clue why I wouldn't just want some fancy adjustable weight dumb bells instead.

If you have a play it again sports nearby they may have some you can toss around for a few minutes (dont buy one), or try some local gyms you may find one that has a few and will give you a guest pass for some duration. Or if you have a crossfit gym nearby most of them carry a few kettlebells.

It's all about GS, efficiently is the key. 10min is a long damn time! And yes doubles is where it is at. I think the next step after that is triple bell, but fist to grow that third arm.

I Kettlebell. I have taught KB and I do it in wrestleing shoes, Chuck Taylors and V5Fs. The place to get KBs is www.artofstrength.com. I own both Dragondoor and AOS. I prefer the AOS because of the quality and fair pricing. My DD were VERY expensive and shipping was as much as the bells. Art of Strength also has a lot of really good educational DVDs and he sends out a weekly blog. My 2 cents. But I do lots of research before I buy.

Specifically which kettlebells from Art of Strength? There seems to be various models available, all very different.

I do kettlebell sport and only use GS kettlebells. I've found very little difference between the numerous brands as all Pro-Grade kettlebells have to be the same diameter.
I also prefer them for any sort of Kb training over the "traditional" KB models.
